WWW2009 report

一如既往地投稿,但还是一如既往地被拒。 不过这次两个评中等,一个评差,就一句评语:
There are two main problems with this paper: it must be almost completely rewritten for grammar and syntax and the research ideas do not seem to be particularly novel.

另外一份评中等的评语:

...... The paper is quite well-written but some sentences are not clear ......

所以写信给chair询问:

...... But it is interesting that review1 said "must be almost completely rewritten for grammar and syntax" and review2 said "quite well-written but some sentences are not clear". ......

chair回电:

....... PC members are usually technically strong; however they are often non native English speakers and therefore they may not be necessarily good judges of English. This happens especially with PC members who are from China. So if you get reviews in which one says that the English is good and the other review says that the English is bad, the first reviewer is typically someone who is a non native English speaker. ......

妙哉! 呜呼,“书到用时方恨少”的时候已经来不及“书在读时只恨少”了。

小记WWW2009(2009-04-29)

今年是Web诞生20年,也是WWW的第18次年会。

为了纪念Web诞生20年,在开幕式前特地组织了一个panel。嘉宾是:Tim,Robert Cailliau(Tim当时在CERN提交HTML的proposal时的老板,这个文本在w3c网站上被作为珍贵文献有展示),Vinton Cerf(Google的VP,father of TCP/IP,Turing Award winner),Dale Dougherty (O'Reilly VP,出版商代表),Mike Shaver (Mozilla VP,这个最早的浏览器还垂而不死)。这个panel有两个father: of Web和of Internet。
